In recent years my colleagues and I have been collecting wind speed data in landfalling hurricanes.

The right front quadrant is the forward part of the storm, on the right side, where the winds are usually strongest.

The circles in the radar images below show our locations, in relatively safe places, as we experienced the right front quadrant.
